Dr Barry Payne
Introduction
Dr Barry Payne is a General Ophthalmologist and Ophthalmic Surgeon who graduated MBBCh (Wits) in 2001. He completed his Ophthalmology Registrar training at the University of the Witwatersrand, obtained his FC Ophth (SA) in 2009, and was awarded the Elie Dahan Award for Registrar of the Year in 2010.
Dr. Payne has been in private practice in Johannesburg since 2011. His consulting practice is based at 109 Oxford Road in Saxonwold and he performs his surgery at Sandhurst Eye Centre.

Dr Payne manages a wide range of conditions, including anterior segment surgery (such as cataract and corneal refractive surgery), medical and surgical retinal conditions, uveitis, and glaucoma. He is dedicated to providing comprehensive, high-quality eye care and values the lasting relationships that develop through caring for his patients’ vision.
Outside of his practice, he enjoys family life with his wife Olivia and their two children, Matthew and Julia, and is an avid runner, mountain biker, and golfer.
