Freedom from glasses with laser vision correction and lens implants.

We offer the full range of modern treatments – from advanced surface laser and femtosecond flap surgery to lenticule extraction and phakic lens implants. Each procedure is tailored precisely to your eyes.

What is vision correction treatment?

Vision correction reshapes the cornea or adds a microscopic lens inside the eye so that light focuses sharply on the retina instead of in front or behind it. This can treat short‑sightedness, long‑sightedness and astigmatism, dramatically reducing or even eliminating the need for glasses and contact lenses in suitable candidates
Laser vision correction uses an excimer or femtosecond laser to gently sculpt the corneal surface or tissue within the cornea to a new, more accurate curvature. For higher prescriptions, thinner corneas or when the laser is not ideal, implantable lenses placed behind the iris (phakic IOLs) provide high‑definition vision without removing the natural lens.

When to consider laser and phakic implant treatments?

Laser treatments (advanced surface, tomography-guided PRK, femto-LASIK, CLEAR) may be suitable if you have:

Phakic implants (STAAR EVO+, IPCL) may be considered if you have:

If your vision is interfering with your daily life, it may be time to speak to one of our specialists.

Our approach to vision correction at Sandhurst Eye Centre

We start with a meticulous work‑up using corneal tomography, wavefront analysis and ocular biometry to understand the unique optical fingerprint of each eye. From there, we recommend the least invasive option that safely achieves your visual goals, whether that is surface laser, flap‑based laser, lenticule extraction or a phakic lens.

What to expect on your vision correction treatment journey?

Here’s what the vision correction treatment process typically looks like. We’ll walk
you through each stage of your treatment so you know exactly what to expect,
with personalised care and support before, during, and after your procedure.

Initial Consultation

Your first visit includes a full dilated eye examination, corneal tomography, wavefront analysis and tear‑film assessment, plus a detailed discussion of your visual needs at work, sport and leisure.

We then explain your options with clear pros and cons of each procedure, expected recovery, risks and pricing so you can make an informed, unhurried decision.

Day of Surgery

Laser procedures are quick, typically taking 10–20 minutes in the theatre. Eye-drop anaesthetic is used and, if needed, a mild oral sedative. Most patients feel only gentle pressure or vibration.

Phakic lens surgery usually takes a similar time, through a tiny corneal incision, and you go home the same day with protective shields and detailed drop instructions.

Aftercare and Recovery

Surface laser patients can expect a few days of grittiness and light sensitivity while the surface heals. Vision then sharpens steadily over the following 1–4 weeks.

Patients undergoing Femto-LASIK, CLEAR or phakic lens procedures usually see well enough to return to work within a few days. Follow-up visits in the first weeks allow us to fine-tune drops, detect dry eye early and confirm stable healing.

Initial Consultation

You’ll meet with one of our specialists who will assess your vision, conduct diagnostic tests, and help you choose the best treatment plan and lens option for your needs.

Day of Surgery

The procedure is quick, performed under local anaesthetic with conscious sedation. The cloudy lens is removed, and a new intraocular lens is implanted. Most surgeries are done as day cases.

Initial Consultation

You’ll return for a check-up the next day, and most people resume light activities within a day or two. We’ll guide you through your recovery and provide everything you need to feel confident post-op.

Frequently Asked Questions

We offer advanced surface laser (PRK), tomography‑guided PRK, femto‑LASIK, CLEAR lenticular extraction on the Ziemer Z8, and phakic lens implants including STAAR EVO+ and IPCL.

CLEAR is Ziemer’s latest-generation lenticule extraction technique. It uses a low-energy Z8 femtosecond laser to create and remove a tiny corneal lenticule through a small incision, providing flap-free laser vision correction.

The concept is similar to SMILE, but CLEAR is performed on Ziemer’s Swiss-engineered, OCT-guided platform, allowing highly precise treatment planning and delivery.
EVO+ and IPCL lenses are suitable for adults with stable, typically higher prescriptions who may not be ideal candidates for laser vision correction. This can include patients with thinner or irregular corneas, dry eyes, or prescriptions that are too high for safe laser treatment.

Suitability is confirmed through detailed measurements, including anterior chamber depth and endothelial cell health.
Laser reshaping of the cornea is permanent, although natural age-related changes such as presbyopia may still occur over time. Phakic lenses, however, are designed to be removable or exchangeable if your needs change or as new technology becomes available.
In carefully selected patients, complication rates are low and satisfaction rates are high. Advances in screening, low-energy lasers and modern phakic lenses have further improved safety and predictability.
