Introduction
Dr Johann Lamprecht is a specialist ophthalmic surgeon in Johannesburg, consulting at The Oxford Centre and operating at Sandhurst Eye Centre. He specialises in intra-ocular surgery, including procedures for cataract, glaucoma, and retinal pathology, as well as complex anterior segment surgeries such as pupil repairs and scleral-fixated lens implantation.
More about Dr Lamprecht
After earning his MBChB from the University of the Free State in 2007, Dr Lamprecht joined WITS University’s Ophthalmology Department in 2011 and completed his MMed Ophthalmology in 2015. He served as consultant specialist and associate lecturer at St John Eye Hospital (Soweto), leading cornea and glaucoma clinics.
Passionate about professional development, he helped found OSSA’s Young Ophthalmologists subcommittee and currently sits on the board of the Ophthalmology Management Group (OMG).
Dr Lamprecht refined his microsurgical skills with postgraduate training at the European School for Advanced Studies in Ophthalmology (ESASO – Refractive Cataract Surgery, Glaucoma Surgery and Retinal Surgery) and the Thessaloniki Vitreoretinal Summer School (TVRS).
